VON WILLEBRAND FACTOR ANTIGEN

von Willebrand disease (vWD) is a lifelong bleeding disorder in which your blood does not clot properly. People with this disease have low levels of von Willebrand factor (vWF), a protein that helps the blood to clot or the protein does not perform as it should. Most people with the disease are born with it, having inherited from either or both of their parents. Symptoms include easy bruising, recurrent & prolonged nose bleed, bleeding from gums, heavy periods or excessive bleeding from the cuts. vWD affects both males & females. Rarely it can be acquired due to an underlying medical condition.
