Apolipoprotein A1 is a protein in your body which has a protective function against Cardiovascular disease (CVD). It is considered to be a better predictive marker than HDL cholesterol. It specially helps to determine risk of heart attack in elderly persons. Apolipoprotein B is a protein in your body which promotes formation of plaques in the blood vessels. It increases the risk of developing heart disease. This test is also used to monitor the response if you are on statin therapy. It is a better indicator of cardiovascular risk as compared to LDL cholesterol.
