TRANSFERRIN

Transferrin is a protein which transports iron in your body. High transferrin level means that your liver is producing more of this protein to use all the iron available in the body as seen in anemias. Low level means that your body is absorbing more iron than needed. This test is specially useful if you suffer from chronic iron overload either due to genetic causes or acquired due to liver disease.
