HAPTOGLOBIN

Haptoglobin is a protein produced by the liver in your body which binds hemoglobin. Red blood cells carry oxygen to different parts of the body. When red blood cells are destroyed, they release hemoglobin which binds with Haptoblobin and this bound form is metabolized by your liver. In case of very rapid red blood cell destruction as seen in Hemolytic anemias, haptoglobin levels drop. Symptoms of Hemolytic anemia include fatigue, pale skin, cold hands & feet, jaundice and dizziness.
