Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is a technique that uses antibodies to check for antigens / markers in tissue samples. This is an excellent technique which shows exactly where a marker is located in the tissue taken out from your body. It is widely used for the diagnosis of cancers. Caldesmon is a protein that normally regulates movement of smooth muscle in your body. It is a marker of tumors of smooth muscle namely Leiomyoma & Leiomyosarcoma.
