GROWTH HORMONE

Growth hormone (GH) is secreted by the pituitary gland in your brain. This hormone controls childhood growth and helps to maintain tissues & organs throughout life. GH levels are increased by sleep, stress, exercise & low sugar levels in the body. Excess production of GH in children leads to uncontrolled growth called Acromegaly / Gigantism. These patients grow very tall with large hands & feet, altered facial features and enlarged organs. Decreased production of GH leads to poor growth in children with increased risk of heart disease, weak muscles & bones.
