Beta Thalassemia is an inherited disorder in which the production of hemoglobin in your body is defective. The genes that control the formation of Beta protein are either absent or defective. If you suffer from a severe form of thalassemia, you need repeated blood transfusions. Due to this, certain complications can arise like infections, fever, allergy, pain & transfusion reaction. This is a confirmatory test as it identifies the defective gene in your body. It also confirms if you are a high risk case with a positive family history or a carrier of Thalassemia gene.
