FLUID AMYLASE

Amylase is an enzyme in your body produced by pancreas, liver & salivary glands. It helps in the breakdown of carbohydrates in your body. This test is used to detect high levels of Amylase in body fluids like Pleural fluid which is an accumulation of fluid in the chest cavity. This can be seen in patients suffering from pancreatitis & other infections of pancreas.
