Epstein Barr virus (EBV) spreads through saliva or by sharing utensils wih an infected person. It mainly affects teenagers & young adults and causes Infectious mononucleosis. Symptoms include sore throat, fever, fatigue, swollen glands in your neck & armpits, swollen tonsils, headache & skin rash. Some patients also develop enlarged spleen. Infection usually resolves by itself. This is a specific antibody useful in patients who have clinical symptoms of Infectious mononucleosis but do not develop the general heterophile antibody.
