CHROMOGRANIN A

Chromogranin A is a protein secreted by special type of cells in your body called neuroendocrine cells which have features of both nerve cells & cells that make hormones. They are present in adrenal gland, pancreas & paraganglia. Tumors arising from the neuroendocrine cells have high Chromogranin A levels. This test is used to monitor response to treatment & chance of recovery in Neuroendocrine tumors.
